Biography

Scholarship and story

Morris earned his PhD in Biblical Studies from Trinity College Dublin, where his doctoral work studied apotropaic traditions in the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Synoptic Gospels. He earned an MA in Scripture from the Augustine Institute and a BA from the University of Mary.

His monograph, Warding Off Evil, investigates ancient Jewish and Christian responses to demonic evil, especially the distinction between exorcism and preventative forms of protection. His articles and chapters have appeared in The Catholic Biblical Quarterly, Mohr Siebeck volumes, and an Oxford University Press collection on possession.

He serves as an adjunct professor of Sacred Scripture at Holy Apostles College and Seminary. His teaching and curriculum work have included Scripture, prophetic literature, Judaism and early Christianity, and foundational Catholic theology.

His first novel, The First Silence: The Reliquary of Iona, brings that scholarly background into a literary thriller about ancient language, faith, guarded knowledge, Vatican archives, and Iona.
